Image to STL Converter

Create a printable relief or closed silhouette extrusion from a local raster image.

Input image

PNG · JPG · JPEG

3D preview

Choose a local image to create relief geometry.

Quick guide

How to use the image-to-STL workbench

Start with the defaults, check the preview, then adjust only what affects your print.

  1. 01Add an image

    Choose file

  2. 02Set the result

Mode · Width (mm) · Relief height (mm)

  3. 03Preview and export

    Generate preview → Download STL

What each setting does

Mode
Photo relief: Turn image brightness into raised depth. Logo / outline extrude: Give a high-contrast outline a flat thickness.
Width (mm)
Sets the exported STL’s physical width. The preview auto-fits, so its on-screen size may look unchanged.
Relief height (mm)
Sets the height variation above the base. Larger values create a deeper relief.
Mesh quality
Standard: Best for fast previews, simple shapes, and smaller STL files. Detailed: Best for everyday photo reliefs and most 3D prints, balancing detail and browser performance. Ultra-detailed: For small text, precise heightmaps, and rich textures; creates many triangles and may make the browser unresponsive.
Base thickness (mm)
Adds a solid backing below a photo relief so the result is a closed printable solid.
Threshold
Controls which pixels are included in silhouette mode. Higher values keep only lighter areas; lower values also include darker areas.
Invert brightness
Swaps light and dark height mapping so dark pixels become raised instead of recessed.
Smooth image sampling
Softens pixel noise and abrupt height changes before the mesh is built.

What is preserved

Brightness or thresholded shape is sampled into explicit local mesh geometry.

What can be lost or unsupported

  • No 360-degree object reconstruction
  • Color and photographic detail become height or shape
  • Fine detail depends on the quality preset

Common uses

  • Create an embossed relief
  • Extrude a black-and-white icon
  • Prepare a simple printable image mesh

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. Model parsing, preview, and export run in your browser.

Is the conversion lossless?

No format conversion is described as lossless. Review the format-specific warnings above before using the output.

What is the file-size limit?

100 MB is a safety ceiling, not a guarantee. Mobile devices may need substantially smaller files.
